As hybrid organizations utilize a mix of on-premises, cloud, and outsourced environments, security teams are under increasing pressure to reduce risks without hindering the network. While automation is the intended goal, fragmented transparency, outdated regulations, and incomplete onboarding processes often slow down adoption. With Policy Workbench, FireMon addresses this with environment-related policy recommendations and a guided Design Workspace. Both can be implemented immediately, without requiring full automation readiness in advance.
'Security teams are under pressure to automate, but many networks are complex,' said Jody Brazil, CEO of FireMon. 'Policy Workbench provides practical recommendations and a safe place to design changes from day one, while allowing you to decide how far and how fast you want to automate.'

Policy Workbench introduces a new, precision-based automation model. Instead of forcing teams to determine everything in advance, the software adapts to the actual environment of the company. This allows security teams to design, validate, and verify policy rules – before they are implemented.
Policy Workbench provides guidance for designing policy rules and indicates which devices, objects, and rules need to be updated to implement the intended access. Changes are continuously validated against internal standards and frameworks such as PCI DSS, NIST, and DORA, with deviations flagged even before implementation.

Developed for Real Operations
Policy Workbench integrates directly with existing workflows, enabling teams to:
- open and track ITSM tickets
- add contextual justification to support decisions
- collaborate more closely between security and operations teams
- work with audit-ready documentation, from design to approval
'Full automation is the end goal, but precision is the prerequisite,' Brazil continues. 'With Policy Workbench, teams can design, test, and implement automation on their own terms, without having to change their current way of working.'
