The equipment can be described as excellent; the Taiwanese computer manufacturer undoubtedly delivers a complete laptop. Not only does it feature no less than five (!) USB ports, Bluetooth, Firewire, card reader, and infrared port, but it also includes a built-in webcam, DVI and TV output, and a fast Geforce Go 7300 graphics card, along with a Kensington lock. The screen is fine, and the keyboard is also of high quality. There are shortcut keys above the keyboard for turning Bluetooth and WiFi on and off.

The mix of components makes it suitable for both business users and consumers, although the former group certainly has little use for the high-end Geforce graphics powerhouse and would prefer to save those costs.
Tight memory
A small downside is the size of the RAM. The Core Duo implies intensive multitasking, but the mere 512 MB of internal memory is somewhat lacking. Half a GB is not too tight, but 1 GB is simply more pleasant to work with these days. Nevertheless, the Asus A8J is an excellent all-round laptop, with a sublime price/performance ratio.
