In the former sugar factory in Groningen, the largest physical Blockchain Hackathon in the world took place from April 5 to 8, 2018. During these four days and nights, 700 participants in 63 teams worked with blockchain technology based on various themes.
FHICTChaingers
The team from Fontys Hogeschool ICT Eindhoven, which participated under the name the FHICTchaingers, won the first prize in the category "Future of Pensions!. "
The team of the FHICTChaingers was composed of students, alumni, and a teacher from Fontys Hogeschool ICT Eindhoven. With the help of blockchain technology, they raise awareness among young people about their pensions using microtransactions.

Eveline Druncks from the FHICTchaingers: "At every touchpoint, for example when receiving bottle deposits, returning old mobile phones, or differences in electricity rates, you can decide to receive the deposit now or have it deposited into your pension fund. We implement this through blockchain technology."
