This approach changes the way governments and businesses operate. It enables more automation, intelligence, and efficiency, streamlining services to end customers and accelerating innovation. The Dutch government has announced plans to open an AI factory in Groningen in 2026.

Why is building an AI Factory so complex?

Realizing an AI Factory is technically challenging. Organizations face fragmented infrastructures and must keep pace with the rapidly changing tempo at which hardware and software stacks evolve. Additionally, data and workloads from various sources, each with their own security and performance needs, must be processed and managed securely. These challenges can delay implementation and increase costs.

For governments and organizations in highly regulated sectors, the bar is set even higher. They must comply with stringent laws and regulations regarding data protection, apply FIPS encryption, and maintain sovereign control over their infrastructure and data. According to a report from the US Government Accountability Office in 2025, ten of the twelve federal agencies cite policy and compliance as the main barriers to AI adoption.

A complete AI Factory

To address these challenges, NVIDIA introduced AI Factory for Government, an architecture fully tailored for the implementation of AI workloads in environments with high security requirements. Within the joint solution, NVIDIA containers suitable for government applications run on the Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP) and are also integrated with Nutanix Enterprise AI (NAI). This ensures consistent performance and simple processes, utilizing hardened configurations, FIPS-compliant encryption, and continuous vulnerability monitoring. As a result, the solution is highly suitable for highly regulated environments. NKP can run on both virtual machines – often the preference for multi-tenant applications – and physical servers. Additionally, Nutanix collaborates with hardware vendors to deliver a complete AI Factory that includes all components for implementation.

'We are excited to deliver a fully integrated, robust AI Factory together with NVIDIA and several hardware manufacturers,' said Thomas Cornely, SVP Product Management at Nutanix. 'With built-in FIPS-compatible encryption at every layer, we help organizations protect sensitive data while accelerating AI adoption. Thanks to the advanced capabilities of NKP and NAI, customers also have robust governance features, such as access control, auditing, API token management, and full visibility into the infrastructure. This ensures a fast time-to-first-token, better cost management, and strong security for mission-critical AI workloads.'

'Companies and government agencies are looking for secure, scalable AI architectures to modernize their organizations and tackle challenges that require both flexibility and compliance,' said Justin Boitano, Vice President Enterprise AI Products at NVIDIA. 'Together, NVIDIA and Nutanix enable organizations to confidently build AI factories that accelerate innovation while meeting the highest standards for security and regulation.'
