Two out of five (41%) IT decision-makers indicate that this choice is primarily based on the availability of specialists in the labor market, according to research among over 500 IT decision-makers and influencers about developing in low-code, commissioned by SAP and OutSystems service provider and knowledge partner myBrand Conclusion. Although two out of five (41%) organizations prefer to develop software in-house, the same number of organizations (40%) struggle to create interesting job profiles to attract new personnel.
Missing business opportunities
The shortage of developers in the labor market, according to half (50%) of IT decision-makers and influencers, is causing the importance of low-code software development to grow. At this moment, a significant portion (40%) of organizations cannot capitalize on business opportunities due to insufficient capacity. The same applies to achieving sustainability goals. Less than half (45%) of organizations have the development speed to meet such objectives.

"In fact, although there is a huge shortage in the labor market, there is an increase in the number of low-code developers. This profession is learned quickly, and most developers find developing with low-code more enjoyable than writing old-fashioned code. Organizations facing a shortage of developers should explore the possibilities of low-code. Besides the greater availability of personnel, organizations miss fewer business opportunities due to the fast time-to-market with low-code. A win-win situation, indeed."
