What can you do?
Where possible, owners of affected devices are notified, but this only concerns a portion of the total number of affected devices in the Netherlands. The NCSC therefore recommends checking SOHO equipment for updates and implementing them when an update is available. Devices that are directly connected to the internet are unfortunately vulnerable to exploitation. It is particularly important to maintain good basic hygiene with these types of devices.
Regarding IoT and the security of IoT systems, the NCSC has made several knowledge products available that clearly explain what you can do to be resilient against digital threats. Research from the NCSC shows that the Internet of Things is one of the biggest challenges as part of the digital resilience of the Netherlands.
