BoxTop, based in the United Kingdom, helps LSPs digitize their operations and connect with the broader logistics community to manage the lifecycle of shipments. LSPs use BoxTop's platform to manage the movement of goods safely and efficiently, from quotes to routing, booking, and final delivery. BoxTop is an existing partner of Descartes and uses the Descartes Global Logistics Network ("GLN") to help its customers gain insights into shipments across multiple transport modes and to complete electronic customs declarations.
"We have been successfully collaborating with BoxTop for several years, and this was the next logical step in our partnership," says Scott Sangster, General Manager Logistics Services Providers at Descartes. "BoxTop has an excellent solution for small to medium-sized LSPs, and we see an opportunity to integrate it with more solutions on the GLN. This will help us provide more value to BoxTop's customers and expand the geographic footprint to more countries in Europe."
"LSPs will continue to play a crucial role in trade in the global economy", says Edward J. Ryan, CEO of Descartes. "As LSPs continue to digitize their operations, we want to ensure that small to medium-sized LSPs have access to the same broad range of solutions to manage the lifecycle of shipments safely and efficiently. With the acquisition of BoxTop, we can deliver even more value to this community. We look forward to welcoming BoxTop's employees, customers, and partners to the Descartes family."
BoxTop's headquarters is located in Windsor, England. Descartes purchased BoxTop for approximately £10.25 million ($US 13 million), in cash.
