Working sustainably

With the World cITizens @ Work project, the three partners aim to help status holders enter and remain in the workforce in a sustainably deployable manner. Additionally, the new trajectory contributes to the significant shortage of labor in IT. Conclusion, HvA, and UAF have entered into the agreement for three years. The first group will start the training at HvA in November of this year and is expected to start working at Conclusion in September 2024. This cycle will take place at least two more times.

Everyone a fair chance

The recruitment and pre-selection are currently taking place and are being conducted by UAF. To provide everyone with an equal opportunity, candidates do not need to have mandatory prior education or IT knowledge. However, they will be screened by HvA through an assessment to ensure they meet the required higher professional education level. Following this, a job matching procedure will begin so that candidates end up at a Conclusion company that aligns with their ambitions. During this preliminary phase, UAF supports candidates with application training and they attend knowledge sessions. Additionally, both the candidates and the employees of Conclusion participate in a training on intercultural communication in the workplace, provided by UAF.

Language and IT

To elevate the Dutch language level of status holders, the learning-work trajectory starts with a tailored language program from the Student Affairs of the Hogeschool van Amsterdam. This is followed by the program Make IT Work, an intensive retraining program tailored to the case studies of Conclusion. Subsequently, the candidates will be employed by Conclusion. To ensure proper guidance and a smooth landing, Conclusion provides a buddy in the workplace. Both the buddy and the candidate are supported by UAF.

Pim van Asch, Sustainability Manager at Conclusion: "We believe in the power of collaboration on social issues. We call that 'Building sustainable ecosystems'. We are therefore very proud to launch this project together with HvA and UAF. At Conclusion, we are convinced that differences connect and strengthen us. We find it very important to give these people a place in our organization and thereby contribute to their integration into society. We are not choosing the easiest, but the most sustainable way. Stability is, in our opinion, an important part of this, which is precisely why we offer this group an employment contract at the front end of the trajectory."

Marike van der Tol, Business Developer at UAF: "As a knowledge partner in the field of learning-work trajectories, our goal is to successfully set up and guide such trajectories so that they become embedded within organizations. This project is a wonderful example of how education, business, and we as a foundation strengthen each other. I am convinced that good preparation and the right guidance is the way to help status holders towards a sustainable future. The way Conclusion invests in this group underscores that they recognize this and shows that they are committed to truly empowering status holders. This way, they can contribute to society, and Conclusion gains loyal and motivated employees in return. I hope that other organizations feel inspired to follow Conclusion's example."

Jopie Nooren, chair of the Executive Board of HvA: "With this initiative, we can offer status holders the chance to utilize their talents and develop them sustainably in the workplace; it is therefore an example of how we as a knowledge institution can contribute to diversity, digitalization, and sustainability. At the same time, we are responding to the demand for highly educated IT professionals; something we are also committed to as HvA. The beauty of this collaboration is that we can offer the perfect mix together, due to the years of experience from our Language Bridge program, the successful setup of Make IT Work, the expertise and mediation of UAF, and the special role that Conclusion can and wants to play as an employer. We look forward to welcoming the first candidates in November."
