The deal has been closed for an amount of 1.1 billion dollars and means that the employees who worked in HTC's mobile division now operate under Google's banner. HTC will also continue to make devices under its own name, including of course the HTC Vive.
Taipei as the center for activities of Google
Rick Osterloh, Senior Vice President Hardware at Google, reports that with the closing of the deal, Taipei is now the center of Google's activities in the East Asian region. Google is entering its third year of making hardware and this acquisition means that Google is certainly not planning to stop doing this in the short term.
